Today, Sony released an update for the PlayStation Store on the PS3. Even if you have PlayStation+, you will still have to turn on your system and load up the storefront in order to retrieve the update. Seems like they do this to force you to see the difference, which is noticeable, but not really the as fast as you want it to be.
The update weighs in at 26MB and patches other things along with the longloading times. According to Spong, the revamped PlayStation Store leverages some HTML 5 code that’s supposed to go hand-in-hand with the web front. Given recent issues with HTML 5 with other services, this may also be the reason why the service has now become as sluggish as it is given the cool new look.
