This should be good news for those who own Windows Phone devices.  According to The Verge, Microsoft is allegedly working on implementing CardDAV (contact) and CalDAV (calendar) support for the phones.  This is in response to Google announcing a while back that it would stop supporting Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support.

There is no telling how long this has been in development as it was also pointed out by The Verge that “….Google privately informed Microsoft late last summer that it planned to drop support for Exchange ActiveSync…”

For those using Windows Phone and are syncing contacts and calendars with Google services, support ends on January 30th for new devices. This means that if you are planning updating your phone or doing something that will require you to reconfigure Google services, you have until then to do it and it still work.
